Checkmate #11

Part of the "Rogue Knight" arc, this April 2007 installment kicks off the "Corvalho Part One" chapter of Checkmate with a striking cover by Jesús Saiz, Steve Scott, and Nathan Massengill. Dominating the image is a swirling, luminescent green energy figure — humanoid in shape and crackling with intensity — set against a fiery orange background, while surrounding comic-strip panels hint at characters in swimwear fleeing chaos, a tense confrontation in a backyard, and a coolly threatening man delivering ominous dialogue. Writers Greg Rucka, Nunzio DeFilippis, and Christina Weir, with art by Steve Scott and inks by Nathan Massengill, bring their collaborative voice to what looks like a genuinely dangerous new threat for Checkmate's world of covert intrigue.
