In "Twelve Million Years to Twilight," the Challengers of the Unknown team up with the Creature of the Marshes and Deadman when a massive box materializes in Toronto. Investigating its mysterious origin, they learn it’s a time capsule from the distant future, leading them to journey with Rip Hunter’s time sphere to the era of 12 million years hence—where they find Rip and his allies under the control of the Lords of Dusk. As the heroes confront this shadowy regime, Prof is attacked by a mutant lizard from the future, and Deadman takes possession of Rip to strike back.

In 12,000,000 AD, Ace, Rocky, and June stage a daring prison break as Swamp Thing fights off a wave of mutants. Back in 1978, Prof is rescued by Red, who turns up just in time to raise the lab’s temperature and incinerate a monstrous threat. With the future in chaos, the Challs push forward toward the breeder labs, determined to strike at the heart of the enemy’s operation.

In "Chapter 2: Twilight's Last Glimmer," Swamp Thing faces off against the towering Persuader as Lawspeaker arrives with his Sky Riders to turn the tide. With the Sunset Lords threatening to level the city, Deadman takes control of Rip Hunter to dismantle their weapon—just as the heroes prepare to return home.
