In "Twelve Million Years to Twilight," the Challengers of the Unknown team up with the Creature of the Marshes and Deadman when a massive box materializes in Toronto. Investigating its mysterious origin, they learn it’s a time capsule from the distant future, leading them to journey with Rip Hunter’s time sphere to the era of 12 million years hence—where they find Rip and his allies under the control of the Lords of Dusk. As the heroes confront this shadowy regime, Prof is attacked by a mutant lizard from the future, and Deadman takes possession of Rip to strike back.
