Challengers of the Unknown #3
In "Lives of Our Days!", the Challengers of the Unknown reunite one final time at the graves of Prof Haley and June Robbins, marking the end of an era. As Ace Morgan delves into magic in a Greenwich Village loft, Rocky contemplates a film career in Challengerville, and Red Ryan takes up vigilante work in Gotham, a wave of violent chaos spreads across America—spotted by sleaze reporter Harold Moffet. Written by Jeph Loeb and illustrated with moody precision by Tim Sale, with colors by Lovern Kindzierski and letters by Bob Pinaha, this 1991 DC story captures the haunting aftermath of heroism, all framed by Kyle Baker’s striking cover.

The Challengers meet for the last time at the graves of Prof Haley and June Robbins. Ace Morgan rents a loft from a “strange man” in Greenwich Village. He practices magic, getting better, until Doctor Fate swoops in and tells him to be quiet. Rocky stays in Challengerville until a producer asks him if he’d like to make movies. Red Ryan drifts across the country and ends up in Gotham City, where he becomes a self-appointed vigilante blowing away street punks and muggers. Meanwhile, sleaze reporter Harold Moffet notes that incidents of crazy violence are popping up all over America.
