“Undead”

In the shadowed streets of an unnamed city, the dead aren’t staying dead—drug addicts are dying, then rising again, driven by something unseen. The Challengers of the Unknown are called in to uncover the truth behind the reanimated corpses, only to be captured by the enigmatic "Emperor Mustafa" and forced into a nightmare of mindless servitude. Written by Steven Grant and Len Kaminski, with bold artwork by John Paul Leon and sharp inks by Shawn Martinbrough, this chilling tale of subsonic control and urban decay is brought to life in a striking cover by John Paul and Shawn.

In a unnamed city, drug addicts are dying like flies then reawakening. The Challengers are called in to investigate the corpses, which animate and attack. The Challengers follow them to a club where they're seized by "Emperor Mustafa", to become zombies too. The Challengers fight free to the street, speculating on the run about mind control through radio subsonics. They break into an electronics store and Kenn rigs a machine that drives the zombies away. Meanwhile, a SWAT team arrests the Mayor. He's in with Mustafa for a "social experiment" that would render junkies controllable and...useful?
