Cerebus #298
This penultimate chapter of Cerebus arrives with a cover of striking, almost meditative stillness — a darkened room where a small figure rests in a chair, barely visible in the deep shadows, the scene rendered with remarkable restraint by Dave Sim and Gerhard. The near-total darkness and the quiet intimacy of the image feel entirely fitting for "Latter Days 33," the closing stretch of one of the most ambitious long-form comics ever self-published. After nearly 300 issues, Aardvark-Vanaheim's remarkable series approaches its end in January 2004 with this haunting, hushed composition.
