Cerebus #295
This late chapter of Dave Sim and Gerhard's long-running series presents one of its most quietly striking covers: the aardvark Cerebus kneels alone beside a small wooden step stool, head bowed and hands clasped as though in prayer or exhausted reflection, a lit table lamp and richly patterned wallpaper lending the room an intimate, almost oppressive stillness. Sim and Gerhard's collaboration here trades spectacle for atmosphere, rendering a solitary, contemplative moment with remarkable care. With "Latter Days 30" marking issue #295 in this extraordinary 2003 run, the cover captures the deeply personal, inward-looking tone that defines this final phase of the series.
