Cerebus #288
The year is 132. And menopause… just became a verb." That tagline alone signals the deadpan wit at the heart of Cerebus #288, the twenty-third chapter of the "Latter Days" arc. The cover, penciled and inked by Dave Sim and Gerhard, is designed as a mock movie poster for "Chasing YHWH VII: The Last Cobweb," featuring a heavyset, bespectacled blonde woman in a dark double-breasted jacket front and center, with a spiderweb-framed inset image looming behind her — all of it parodying the earnest sincerity of prestige film advertising. It's a characteristically strange and funny entry from one of comics' longest-running independent series.
