Issue #251 of the long-running Cerebus series continues the "Going Home" arc — chapter 20, subtitled "Book Three: Form & Void" — with a cover by Gerhard that is quietly haunting in its restraint. Rather than the aardvark himself, the cover presents a moody, blue-toned photographic image of rooftops and gabled buildings beneath a brooding, overcast sky, the sparse snowfall adding to the atmosphere of cold stillness. It's a striking choice from 2000 that speaks to the introspective, literary direction Dave Sim and Gerhard were taking this remarkable series in its final stretch.
