Part 35 of the sprawling "Mothers & Daughters" saga, this August 1994 issue from Aardvark-Vanaheim opens "Check Part 1" with a cover that's quietly arresting — a stark photographic image of the full moon, centered against a deep blue background tiled with repeating horse-head motifs. The minimalist design, with the word "CHECK" printed plainly above the lunar photograph, carries a cool, almost chess-like tension that feels deliberate and confident.
