Part of the celebrated "Jaka's Story" arc, this September 1989 issue features a striking cover by Dave Sim and Gerhard — a graceful blonde woman, arms raised, caught mid-movement against a shadowed stone backdrop, her flowing hair and dancer's poise giving the image an almost dreamlike quality. The intimacy and care in Sim and Gerhard's linework make it easy to see why this extended character study earned such devoted readers. "The Poet 8" continues the arc's quieter, more literary approach to the Cerebus universe.
