Captain America #698

Part one of "Out of Time" opens with a haunting image that says everything without a word: Captain America — shield, star, and all — encased in a massive block of ice, surrounded by armed soldiers in a scorched, ruined landscape bathed in deep crimson. Chris Samnee's cover composition is quietly striking, the glowing blue of the ice block cutting against the devastation around it like a beacon no one quite knows what to do with. Mark Waid and Samnee (with Matthew Wilson's moody colors doing serious heavy lifting) set an ominous, intriguing tone for what promises to be a compelling new chapter in Steve Rogers' long history.
