“The Summoning!”

In "The Summoning!", Captain America and Captain Britain find themselves imprisoned in a dungeon as Modred, wielding the Captain Britain costume, unleashes chaos upon London, demanding Merlin’s appearance. With the help of Paul Neary’s dynamic art and a gripping script by Michael Carlin, the duo escape their chains and attempt to outwit Modred—only to discover Merlin won’t answer their call. When the magician remains absent, the two heroes must rely on their own strength to stop the Dark Mage. The cover by Paul Neary captures the intensity of the moment, a 65-cent comic from 1985 that delivers a high-stakes clash of wills and magic.

As Captain America and Captain Britain find themselves chained in a dungeon, Modred uses the Captain Britain costume to lay waste to London, demanding that Merlin appear to fight him. The Captains succeed in freeing themselves and Cap Britain convinces Modred to give him his costume back so he can summon Merlin. The magician refuses to materialize, however, and the Captains have to take down Modred on their own. Once Modred has fallen, Merlin arrives and takes him into an alternate dimension.
