“Baby Day”

Candy — "America's Favorite Teen-Age Girl" — is firmly behind the wheel in this cheerful 1953 entry from Quality Comics, grinning with total confidence while a wide-eyed Ted tumbles helplessly out of the passenger seat of their rattletrap yellow jalopy (proudly boasting "6½ Cylinders" and being "Souped Up with Noodle Soup"). Her breezy quip — "It's nifty of you to teach me how to drive, Ted!" — says everything about who's really in charge here, and the whole scene has the kind of warm, slapstick energy that made this series such a delight throughout the early fifties.
