Cable #14
Cable #14 (August 1994) puts its hero in a genuinely dire spot, as the cover by Steve Skroce and Mike Sellers shows a massive, snarling blue demon — billed in fiery lettering as "The Son of the Goblin Queen" — clutching a grimacing Cable by the throat with terrifying ease. In the background, a blonde woman in dark clothing watches from a crumbling stone parapet, an orange cloak billowing dramatically behind her. Part three of "Fear & Loathing" promises the kind of intense, personal stakes that made Cable's solo series such a compelling corner of the Marvel Universe in 1994.
