“Hell's Angel”

The series goes out in a blaze of hellfire — this special giant-sized final issue of Blue Devil (December 1986) pits the horned hero front and center against an overwhelming threat, as the cover announces "Lucifer's here…" with a massive, winged dark figure looming over Blue Devil and his companions, flames erupting all around them. Blue Devil stands his ground alongside a blonde woman in white and a bespectacled man in green, all three facing the infernal chaos with varying degrees of alarm and defiance. Cover pencils by Paris Cullins and inks by Gary Martin give the scene a lively, kinetic energy that makes this send-off feel genuinely consequential.
