Blue Devil #2

Blue Devil faces a serious wrecking crew in this July 1984 issue, as the cover — penciled and inked by Paris Cullins — throws our blue-skinned hero into a rubble-strewn brawl against Shockwave, a hulking red-and-silver armored villain who, as the tagline cheerfully warns, "likes to break things." Blue Devil looms large with trident raised overhead while Shockwave squares off against him amid crumbling brick and debris, making the whole scene feel like a city block's worst afternoon. With the story titled "Get Me Outta Here!" and a creative team including writers Gary Cohn and Dan Mishkin, this second issue makes a strong case that DC's newest devil is already neck-deep in trouble.
