Blue Devil #11
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis April 1985 issue of DC's fan-favorite series plunges Blue Devil into what the clapperboard on the cover cheekily bills as "70mm Dreams" — a movie-set mayhem premise that looks anything but a smooth production. Cover artists Paris Cullins and Gary Martin pack the image with gloriously chaotic energy: Blue Devil himself scrambles in wide-eyed alarm alongside a glamorous blonde woman in a red dress, while a snarling werewolf-like creature in a "Goon Squad" badge and a grinning green robot tank close in from behind, with what appears to be a snapping dinosaur jaw looming in the background for good measure. It's a wonderfully busy composition that captures exactly the kind of off-the-wall superhero comedy that made this series such a lively corner of the DC Universe in the mid-1980s.
