Marvel's supernatural horror corner gets a compelling new voice with this 2001 series opener. The cover, penciled and inked by Michael Lopez, sets a moody gothic tone immediately: a blonde, braided young woman armed with a holstered pistol glances back warily over her shoulder, her expression taut with unease, while a foreboding castle looms beneath a full moon and a fanged stone gargoyle watches from above. With Abnett, Lanning, and Simone collaborating on the story, "Blood Runs Thicker..." promises sharp writing to match that atmospheric imagery.
