Issue three of Milestone Media's Blood Syndicate puts the Boogieman front and center — a hulking, fur-covered creature in a backwards cap and torn jeans, drooling and bristling with fang-like protrusions while dozens of leering shadow-faces crowd the darkness behind him. The cover tagline warns "The Boogieman'll get you if you don't watch out!," and the menacing figures peering down from the top border make it clear this gang-turf world has no shortage of threats. Cover pencils by James W. Fry and inks by Mike Gustovich give the whole image a raw, kinetic energy that fits perfectly with Ivan Velez Jr. and Dwayne McDuffie's street-level storytelling in "Blood Battle.
