“Blood Allies”

"Blood Allies" kicks off a new chapter in Blade’s hunt with a gritty, atmospheric tale set in the sweltering bayous of New Orleans. Written by Don McGregor and illustrated by Brian Hagan, the story follows Blade as he confronts the vampire Aldes Yancey at a riverboat sanctuary, then faces a new mystery when the enigmatic Dominique Levant appears at his villa—her intentions as sharp as her words. The cover by Steve Oliff captures the dark allure of the moment, while the interior art by Hagan and Florea brings the shadows to life.

In New Orleans Blade slips through the bayous to arrive at the riverboat sanctuary of vampire Aldes Yancey and, after dispatching his lackey Worm-Digger, destroys Yancey and saves his intended victim, Betsy Voison. Later, in his villa, Blade is met by young and beautiful Dominique Levant who, after some verbal cat-and-mouse, tells Blade that she knows people who could use his services as vampire slayer. Unseen, a vampire spies on them both from the roof of the villa.
