Black Panther #1
In "Cry, the Accursed Country!", T'Challa faces a crisis of identity when the Panther spirit abandons him, furious at his inaction against Azania’s apartheid regime. The spirit takes possession of a tormented Azanian, transforming him into a fearsome Man-Cat who unleashes a violent campaign against the oppressive regime. As the maniacal attacks escalate, the Azanians believe T'Challa is behind them, fracturing his standing among the Wakandan people. With Denys Cowan’s dynamic art and Sam de la Rosa’s sharp inks bringing the story to life, this pivotal 1988 issue marks a bold exploration of legacy, justice, and the cost of silence.
