This third issue from 1977 puts Black Lightning in serious peril, with cover art by Rich Buckler and Vince Colletta showing the hero slammed hard by a large, pale villain in a purple suit while a gang of thugs closes in around him — one crowing that their trap is working. Adding a compelling wrinkle, the cover teaser asks why Clark Kent is helping hunt DC's boldest new hero, and Kent's face appears on a shattered TV screen amid the chaos. Tony Isabella's script and Trevor Von Eeden's interior art promise a story that keeps the pressure on Jefferson Pierce from every direction.
