“Black Kiss Book Two”

"Black Kiss Book Two" delivers a gritty, noir-infused thriller from Howard Chaykin, whose sharp writing and bold art—enhanced by Alice Furey’s distinctive inks—anchor a story where danger and desperation collide. Laine and Grove enlist Cass Pollack, a jazz musician and former addict on the run from both the Mafia and the law, to pull off a high-stakes theft from the Vatican, all while his past shadows every move. The cover by Howard Chaykin captures the issue’s dark, fever-dream aesthetic, a fitting frame for a tale where every choice carries a price.

Laine and Grove get Cass Pollack, a jazz musician and ex-heroin addict who is on the run from the Mafia, to steal the Vatican's pornographic reel in return for them providing Pollack with an alibi. This is due to the Mafia killing Pollack's wife and daughter and Pollack being the only suspect, so he also has the police trying to find him.
