Birds of Prey #101

Gail Simone, Nicola Scott, and Doug Hazlewood deliver a tense chapter in "Blood and Circuits: Part Two — Broken Wing," the second part of an ongoing arc. The cover by Stéphane Roux puts a soaking-wet, battle-worn Manhunter at the center of the action — her costume torn and her expression desperate — while surrounding faces including an FBI agent, an armed figure looming behind her, and a cluster of frightened onlookers make clear she's completely surrounded and outgunned. It's a gripping image that captures the Birds of Prey world at its most pressurized, and 2007 fans of Simone's run had every reason to be hooked.
