Betty & Veronica (Jumbo Comics) Double Digest #53

Sep 1995 · Archie · 2.95 USD
“Sock it to Me!”

In "Sock it to Me!", Archie, Mr. Weatherbee, and Spotty are fishing under the stars at Bongo Beach when Dilton’s latest invention—a rocket-powered fishing lure—takes an unexpected flight, launching Archie skyward and straight into Mr. Lodge’s boat, where Veronica and a serious client are fishing. Written by Bob Bolling and illustrated by Bob Bolling with inks by Chic Stone, colors by Barry Grossman, and letters by Bill Yoshida, this lighthearted adventure blends classic Archie charm with a touch of absurdity. The cover by Dan DeCarlo and Henry Scarpelli captures the scene’s playful energy.

Archie, Mr. Weatherbee and Archie's dog Spotty are out on Bongo Beach fishing at night, while Mr. Lodge is out on his fishing boat with Veronica and an important client. Dilton arrives to show Archie a special rocket that will enable his fishing lure to reach farther out, and the rocket winds up taking Archie into the air and, eventually, into Mr. Lodge's boat.
