“What Goes Up…”

A sunny beach day turns into a classic Riverdale moment on this digest cover, with Veronica confidently telling a bewildered Betty — sunglasses on, wrapped in a towel — that she's doing her a favor by keeping her out of the sun, while Archie and another fellow look on from the background. Jeff Shultz's pencils and Henry Scarpelli's inks bring the scene to life with the breezy charm and light comedic timing that makes these digest collections such an appealing package. Celebrating Archie's 60th anniversary, issue #107 packs in a full lineup of stories, including "What Goes Up…," making it a great grab for fans of Riverdale's best frenemies.

Archie and friends are at the beach, and Reggie's friend Jerry offers to trade Reggie his surfboard for Reggie's skimboard. Reggie tells Jerry to throw in his transistor [radio] and he's got a deal. Veronica asks Archie why boys always have to trade, and Archie says he guesses they feel they can swap for something better. Veronica thinks for a moment, then tells her friend Shirley that she'll trade her date [Archie] for Shirley's date.
