“Relatively Speaking”

A delightfully chaotic restaurant scene graces this January 1988 issue of Betty and Me, with Dan DeCarlo's cover showing an embarrassed Archie being hoisted triumphantly by two jubilant waiters while a mortified Betty looks on, exclaiming that he's "definitely over-tipped!" The surrounding crowd of onlookers — including familiar Riverdale faces peering in from the border — adds to the wonderfully comedic spectacle. It's a perfect snapshot of Archie's well-meaning generosity gone hilariously awry, and a fine celebration of Archie Comics' 45th anniversary.
