“After the Laughter!”
About this Collection

This third volume of the 2023 Batman series collects issues #11-15, continuing the Dark Knight's ongoing saga in Gotham City. The story arc delves into Batman's encounters with supernatural elements, as he faces eerie threats that blur the line between the living and the dead, testing his detective skills and resolve. Written by Chip Zdarsky with art by Jorge Jiménez and others, this collection explores the psychological and mystical sides of the Caped Crusader's world.

In "After the Laughter!", James Tynion IV and James Stokoe deliver a gripping, character-driven chapter as Clownhunter confronts the weight of his past, seeking guidance from Leslie Thompkins after a harrowing encounter with Batman and Harley Quinn. With haunting memories of the Joker's violence and the chaos of the Joker War still fresh, Clownhunter grapples with the meaning behind his crusade—while Stokoe’s bold art and Cowles’ sharp lettering heighten the tension. The cover by Guillem March captures the eerie, uneasy mood of the moment.

After his recent encounter with Batman and Harley Quinn leaves him confused about what direction his life should take, Clownhunter seeks advice from Leslie Thompkins. He confides in Leslie how the Joker murdered his parents, and during the Joker War when the Joker's gangs were killing innocent people, he felt compelled to take action by adopting the role of Clownhunter.
