This January 2010 issue puts the new Batgirl front and center — blonde hair flowing, gold utility belt gleaming, she looms confidently over a pair of downed thugs on a Gotham rooftop while one of them manages a bewildered "What is your scene, baby, we just gotta know!" Phil Noto's cover art captures a hero hitting her stride, equal parts grace and determination against a grey cityscape. With Bryan Q. Miller writing and "Batgirl Rising: Field Test" as the story, this volume's early run already has a distinct, energetic personality all its own.
