From the New 52 era of DC, this July 2013 chapter of Gail Simone's Batgirl run pits Barbara Gordon's alter ego against a genuinely unsettling new threat. The cover by Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira says it all: a wild-eyed, bloodied Batgirl crouches beside a pale, ghoulish figure — the Ventriloquist — whose tagline promises she "gives a voice to death," making for one of the more chilling cover images of the run. Interior art comes from Daniel Sampere and Carlos Rodríguez, so fans of the series are in good hands for the story within.
