Astonishing X-Men #63

Phil Noto's cover for this 2013 issue arranges a striking tableau: Iceman sits enthroned on a jagged mountain of ice shards, flanked by Mystique above and surrounded by four other women — including a figure in a gold-and-blue outfit, one in teal armor at the foreground, and others clutching ice weapons — while scattered skulls rest ominously at the base. The composition has a cool, almost regal chill to it, with the azure palette and sharp crystalline forms lending the whole ensemble an air of dangerous elegance. Inside, Marjorie Liu's script and Gabriel Hernández Walta's art continue what's shaping up to be a compellingly tense chapter in this run.
