“Shore Things”

In "Shore Things," Archie, Mr. Weatherbee, and Spotty hit Bongo Beach for a late-night fishing trip, unaware that Mr. Lodge is nearby with Veronica and a high-stakes client. When Dilton arrives with a wild new rocket-powered fishing lure, things take a surprising turn—sending Archie soaring into the sky and straight onto the Lodge family boat. Written and illustrated by Bob Bolling, with inks by Chic Stone, colors by Barry Grossman, and letters by Bill Yoshida, this whimsical adventure blends small-town charm with a splash of outlandish fun. The cover, by Jeff Shultz and Henry Scarpelli, captures the moment the rocket takes flight.

Archie, Mr. Weatherbee and Archie's dog Spotty are out on Bongo Beach fishing at night, while Mr. Lodge is out on his fishing boat with Veronica and an important client. Dilton arrives to show Archie a special rocket that will enable his fishing lure to reach farther out, and the rocket winds up taking Archie into the air and, eventually, into Mr. Lodge's boat.
