When a crash sends his order flying into an orphanage, the unexpected media attention brings both a job offer back to Kindly Mother Kelly and a second chance at camp counseling, but Archie’s not sure he wants fame built on a fluke. Written and illustrated by Bob Bolling, with inks by Chic Stone, colors by Barry Grossman, and letters by Bill Yoshida, this 1985 slice of small-town charm features a cover by Dan DeCarlo and Jim DeCarlo.
Archie’s dreams of becoming a camp counselor are dashed when Mr. Weatherbee says no, so he takes a job delivering pizzas for Kindly Mother Kelly. After a chaotic first day ends with a crash in Pickins Park and a flurry of flying pies into the orphanage, he’s fired—only to be suddenly back on the payroll when the whole mess makes headlines. But despite the sudden fame, Archie feels uneasy about being celebrated for something he didn’t truly earn, and he’s determined to find a purpose that means something real.
