Archie Giant Series Magazine #19
In "Three Time Loser," Jughead's latest self-reflective moment takes a surreal turn after a TV psychiatrist suggests his appetite masks deeper emotional needs. Inspired (or bewildered) by the idea, Archie decides to ditch romance for a more reliable relationship—hamburgers—leading to a surprisingly heartfelt, if absurd, experiment in emotional substitution. Written by Frank Doyle and brought to life with Dan DeCarlo’s signature style and Rudy Lapick’s crisp inks, this 1962 classic features Samm Schwartz’s iconic cover art.

After watching a psychiatrist on TV, Jughead realizes that his love of food is just a substitute for the emotional energy other boys put into loving girls. Archie thinks the theory is ridiculous, but when he realizes how screwed up his love life is, he decides to join Jughead in loving hamburgers instead.
