The Archies are taking their act to the Big Apple in this 2009 issue, with a cover by Dan Parent that puts Archie front and center, guitar in hand, grinning alongside a singing Betty as the band rocks a live set behind them at New York's famous Tavern on the Green. Musical notes float through the air, a crowd presses in around the stage, and a sign announcing the gig makes it all feel like a genuinely special night out. It's a breezy, feel-good setup from writer Hal Lifson and artist Dan Parent that captures the gang at their most energetic and fun.
