“Roughing It”

In "Roughing It," Archie spins a playful experiment to foster empathy: the gang swaps identities for a day, each taking on the role of a different friend. As names are drawn and roles assigned—Veronica as Jughead, Jughead as Reggie, and so on—the usual dynamics shift in ways both funny and revealing. Written by Frank Doyle and brought to life with classic charm by Harry Lucey, with Chic Stone’s inks, Barry Grossman’s colors, and Bill Yoshida’s lettering, this 1974 gem features a cover by Dan DeCarlo and Rudy Lapick.

Archie suggests that to learn to be more tolerant of each other, the gang should play "switch," where each person pretends to be someone else and tries to see the world through his or her eyes. So they draw names to find out who they're going to be, and Veronica becomes Jughead, Jughead become Reggie, Reggie becomes Betty, Betty becomes Archie and Archie becomes Veronica.
