Part of Marvel's "All New X-Men Special Event" banner, this 1996 one-shot puts Warren Worthington III front and center in a striking Steve Lightle cover — blue-skinned and blonde-haired, Archangel stands in a red-and-white costume with a golden halo emblem, his massive dark wings spread wide behind him while a flock of black birds swirls through the grey sky. Looming from the shadows below are a pair of piercing, feathered eyes that hint at something larger and more unsettling lurking beneath the surface. Writer Peter Milligan and artist Leonardo Manco tackle "Phantom Wings," making this a compelling solo spotlight for one of the X-Men's most visually dramatic members.
