Arak / Son of Thunder #5
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeTournament of Titans!" sets the stage for medieval combat in DC's 1982 sword-and-sorcery series, with cover art by Ernie Colón and Dick Giordano capturing the action vividly. The cover depicts a mounted, armored knight driving his lance into Arak — the dark-haired warrior — knocking him and his horse to the ground amid a tournament field lined with colorful banners, while a fair-haired woman in a purple gown watches from the sideline. It's a striking, kinetic image that makes this fifth issue of Arak: Son of Thunder a compelling addition to one of DC's more adventurous early-'80s fantasy titles.

Through communing with a demon, Malagigi learns that Angelica and her brother, Argalia, were sent by their father, the king of White Cathay, to compel the knights of Carolus Magnus to come to their city's aid against barbarian hordes. When one of the knights falls to Argalia in a joust (through sorcerous cheating), honor forces him to agree to accompany them. Later, Arak and Malagigi confront the villains in their camp in the forest. There, Arak is injured and Malagigi is abducted by Angelica's demonic servants.
