Peter Bagge's six-part Dark Horse series delivers another dose of survival comedy with this penultimate issue, its cover showing two bespectacled, wide-eyed refugees hauling a loaded Radio Flyer wagon and overstuffed backpacks down a forest path — one of them pausing to apply lipstick in a compact mirror while a house burns ominously in the background. The contrast between civilizational collapse and mundane vanity is vintage Bagge, rendered in his wonderfully rubbery, expressive style. With one issue left, the stakes on the cover couldn't feel more charmingly absurd.
