Apocalypse Nerd #3

Peter Bagge's post-civilization comedy series hits its midpoint with this wonderfully absurd cover: a wild-eyed, scraggly survivor — mid-swing with what appears to be a bat — stares in desperate, wide-mouthed amazement at a glowing bottle of soda being dangled before him, while a knocked-over log reveals a small stash of supplies nearby. It perfectly captures the series' premise that the real apocalypse is how quickly creature comforts become the most precious things on Earth. Bagge's loose, rubbery cartooning makes the whole scene both hilarious and oddly relatable.
