Issue five of DC's Anima puts the stakes on full display: a blonde young woman with glowing green eyes strains under the pressure of a churning energy sphere in her grasp, while a massive, snarling red demon looms over her with claws outstretched and fangs bared. Chaos erupts in the background as figures scatter from what appears to be a firefight, making this a cover — penciled by Steve Crespo and inked by Chris Ivy — that crackles with tension and urgency. With Paul Witcover and Elizabeth Hand scripting "Wheel of Fortune," this 1994 series clearly had plenty of wild ambition to spare.
