The wind-whipped blonde at the center of this 1994 DC series is clearly in the middle of something intense — hair flying, mouth open in a shout, her checkered outfit catching what looks like a burst of flame as she stands atop a massive, fleshy crimson creature that dominates the lower half of Malcolm Davis's striking cover. The contrast between her human urgency and the hulking, alien mass beneath her sets a vivid tone for "Break Out." With Paul Witcover and Elizabeth Hand on scripts and Steve Crespo and Chris Ivy handling interior art, this mid-series chapter looks like a fine place to see Anima pushed right to her limits.
