American Century #6 brings Vertigo's mature-readers crime series to 2001 Los Angeles with a cover by John Van Fleet that sets an immediately tense, noir-drenched mood. Two uniformed figures — a sharp-eyed, platinum-blond man and a wide-eyed female officer in police gear — lean over something just out of frame, a red star and the word "Fairchild" visible on a wall behind them, the whole scene bathed in smoky shadow.
