“The Ambush Bug History of the DC Universe”

The third chapter of DC's four-part Ambush Bug mini-series promises nothing less than "The Ambush Bug History of the DC Universe," and the cover by Keith Giffen and Bob Oksner sets the tone perfectly — the green, goggle-eyed Ambush Bug peers out from behind a curtain, hawking a strip of photo-booth-style DC Universe snapshots (including a caped Batman) for "4 for a Dollar." It's the kind of irreverent, self-aware humor that made this 1985 series a delightful oddity in DC's lineup, with Giffen and Oksner's crisp, cartoony linework giving the gag just enough visual punch to land.
