The classic X-Men face a formidable threat on this March 1980 reprint issue, as the green-cloaked Vanisher confronts the team outside a grand white building, boasting he'll defeat them "forever" while a wheelchair-bound Professor X urges his students to stand down. Angel soars overhead in the small inset corner, and the original five X-Men — including Cyclops, Iceman, Marvel Girl, and Beast in their yellow-and-blue uniforms — surround the villain in a tense standoff beautifully rendered by the cover pencils of Jack Kirby with inks by Paul Reinman.
