“Gold Standard”

The cover of this New 52 issue puts Jonah Hex front and center in a tense, gun-drawn standoff, flanked by a rifle-wielding woman in frontier attire and Booster Gold — recognizable by his gold costume — as the three of them square off against a pair of grim, heavily armed bounty hunters in the foreground. Howard Porter's cover art leans into the dusty, sun-scorched atmosphere of the Old West while making the most of the unlikely pairing of a time-displaced future hero alongside Hex. With Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti steering the story "Gold Standard" and a Stormwatch backup also promised, issue #20 offers a nicely packed dose of DC's Western corner of the New 52.
