“Invaders from the World Below! [Part I]”

In "Invaders from the World Below! [Part I]," Flash, Wonder Woman, and Black Canary race to the abandoned World's Fair grounds after a cryptic clue from Crillon points to an imminent threat. When a sudden volcano erupts on a playground, the trio fights to stop the lava flow—only to be blindsided by the mysterious Diamond People, who unleash a gem ray and send them plunging into the smoking crater. Meanwhile, at Bottomless Lake, G.L. and the Atom confront a strange ice surge, narrowly avoiding disaster before facing the same deadly ray. Written by John Broome and illustrated by Arthur F. Peddy with inks by Bernard Sachs, the cover by Peddy and Sachs captures the chaos in vivid detail.

Flash, Wonder Woman and Black Canary head to the old World's Fair grounds, where Crillon's notes indicate the Diamond People will strike. When a volcano suddenly emerges on a playground, the trio stops the lava flow and faces the Diamond People, who use a gem ray on the JSA, blinding them and plunging them into the smoking volcano. Meanwhile, at Bottomless Lake, G.L. and the Atom investigate why the lake suddenly has filled with ice. They succeed in saving the city, but the Diamond People arrive and over-power the duo with the gem ray, blinding them and causing them to go over a cliff.
