In "null," young Skippy struggles with fly fishing, frustrated by his lack of luck, until he decides to call it a day. As he passes a kid proudly holding a string of fish, he can’t help but think the other boy’s method is a rather crude way to catch fish.

In "null," Hoiman and Northrup settle in for the parade, excited to see the Mayor ride at the head on horseback. Just as the moment arrives, Northrup dashes off—only to return moments later with a slingshot, setting off a quiet but unmistakable tension in the air.

In "null," young Skippy stays indoors and sends his friend Yacob on a mission: fetch an ice cream from Mrs. Barkenteen using a quarter, with the promise of a licked box as reward. From his window, Skippy watches Yacob’s journey unfold in vivid imagination, only to be met with surprise when Yacob returns empty-handed—Mrs. Barkenteen claims the quarter was payment for an ice cream Skippy once stole.

In "null," Northrup struggles to convince Hoiman that they must alert Shulz and Dusenberry—his Uncle Olaf’s hunting trip means the cows are unattended and need to be brought home before things get out of hand.

In "null," Skippy sets off to visit Ray and see his new dog, only to keep passing by people who’ve already been chased by the beast. Ray grows increasingly puzzled by the delay until Skippy finally arrives—wearing a First World War helmet and looking unharmed.
