In "To Hammer the Earth," Sandman races to save a girl plummeting from a burning airplane, only to find her tied to a terrifying scheme by a mad scientist wielding the Atom-Smasher—a device that hurls streams of uranium atoms at the planet, threatening to shatter the Earth itself. The story unfolds as Sandman confronts the weapon’s destructive power, with the girl’s fate entwined in the escalating crisis.
