Melvin the clown needs a blood transfusion and Aquaman obliges. However this transfusion gives Melvin Aquamans powers temporarily. Melvin causes nothing but trouble with his new found powers. Captain Cuttle thinks that with Melvin keeping Aquaman preoccupied with his antics, they are free to commit crimes. Until it was revealed that Melvins buffoonery was part of the act to make the pirates complacent so Aquaman can trap them.
